The Audi RS3 has surprised us with its impressive performance and road-holding that would make exotic supercars shiver. Its 5-cylinder burble echoes across in the distance, as demonstrated by my colleague Chad Lückhoff when tested the vehicle. You can watch that review here.

The 2.5 5-cylinder turbocharged engine found in this generation of RS3 pushes out 294 kW of power and 500 Nm of torque sent through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. All this gives you blistering acceleration with the quattro all-wheel drive system that sends power to all four wheels.
This vehicle is especially quick, but which model is the fastest though? How is the performance?
Which RS3 is faster?
You can have the Audi RS3 in two flavours, namely Sportback and Sedan form with the only notable difference between them being the form. The engines are exactly the same.
| Audi RS3 Sportback quattro | Audi RS3 sedan quattro | |
| Power | 294 kW | 294 kW |
| Torque | 500 Nm | 500 Nm |
| 0-100 km/h | 3.8s | 3.8s |
| Kerb Weight | 1529 kg | 1534 kg |
| Top Speed | 250 km/h (/ unrestricted with RS Dynamic Pack Plus) | 250 km/h (290km/h derestricted with RS Dynamic Pack Plus) |
Verdict
It's interesting how despite having 2 different formats, the sedan and Sportback RS3 are matched perfectly. There's 5kg extra weight with the Sedan but it doesn't seem to have affected the performance of the vehicle as the 0-100 km/h time is the same as the Sportback. There is an Adaptive chassis control with Audi drive select worth R13 000 (This price was correct at the time of publishing) but it doesn't add more power but instead adjusts the various driving dynamics of the vehicle to suit your driving style more.
